Do This 1 Thing to Succeed in Any Economy!

Every month the government releases statistics on economic activity, ranging from GDP, interest rates, unemployment, and business activity. These are the strongest indicators of the healthiness of an economy, which is the most important factor to voters in elections. The media attaches the economy to whoever is president: “insert name here”onomics. Currently, it’s Trumponomics. Now, this isn’t a post on politics (I can write plenty of those). This is a post on how the economy affects you, more importantly, how you can succeed in any economy.
How Can You Succeed in any Economy?
The answer is quite simple: Have a skill or talent that an employer or business will pay you money for. That’s it. If you can’t add value to a business (cliché I know), you won’t get hired. “Hard working, “team player”, “punctual”, “willing to learn” are all important. However, they don’t contribute directly to a bottom line. Creating a computer program that saves a company thousands of man-hours does.
Poverty
There are two sure-fire ways to end up in the poorhouse. One is living a lifestyle you can’t support, or living above your means. The biggest culprit is having children out of wedlock. The second is having no skills, which we just discussed. This doesn’t necessarily mean having a college degree, although most studies show obtaining a high paying job requires one. There are plenty of college majors out there that aren’t very marketable. Take on-line classes or prerequisite courses at a community college to help reduce college costs.
An excellent example of a good-paying job that doesn’t require a college degree is an auto-mechanic. Those high performance cars aren’t cheap to fix or maintain. Not all entrepreneurs went to college. You could have a home cleaning service or something even simpler like a dog-walking business (people go gaga over their pets!)
